I am Sam, a political scientist working as a study program manager and team member of the Grants Office at the University of Lucerne, located in the heart of Switzerland. In these roles, I strive to move researchers forward. This includes students, whom I help become researchers. As a team member of the Grants Office, I support researchers from a broad range of human sciences. As a study program manager, I support students in Computational Social Science. Finally, I help students grow as an advisor for Bachelor and Master theses. Meanwhile, my own research analyzes migration-related politics and policies.

I am pro-knowledge! In my view, this is the essential attitude that should move us forward. Our planet and global human family need more knowledge creation, more knowledge acquisition, more knowledge dissemination, and more knowledge implementation. At the same time, we should never forget about the value of other forms of knowledge, namely non-positivist knowledge and the kind of knowledge that transcends the rational mind.
I have a keen interest in neurodiversity and aspire to become more engaged in promoting academic mental health. Moreover, I am addicted to music and art, and I have produced some non-professional music as well as various pieces of art myself in a more distant past. Last but not least, I am fascinated by spiritual traditions and practices, particularly by Advaita Vedanta (Non-Duality) as well as mindfulness and compassion. You can find out more about these passions in the non-academic section of this website.
